We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and optimize embedded software supporting next-generation electronic systems and connected devices. This role combines low-level programming, hardware integration, real-time software development, and systems engineering to deliver highly reliable, secure, and high-performance embedded solutions.

The Embedded Software Engineer collaborates with Electrical Engineering, Hardware Design, Systems Engineering, Product Development, Cybersecurity, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing teams throughout the complete product lifecycle. This position offers the opportunity to solve complex engineering challenges while contributing to products that power critical industries around the globe.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software and firmware for advanced electronic systems.
  • Develop low-level software supporting microcontrollers, processors, and embedded hardware platforms.
  • Design software architecture for real-time embedded applications with high reliability and performance.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate software with electronic components and system interfaces.
  • Develop device drivers, communication protocols, bootloaders, and hardware abstraction layers.
  • Optimize embedded software for memory utilization, power efficiency, processing performance, and system stability.
  • Support software verification, validation, debugging, and hardware integration testing.
  • Implement secure software development practices and embedded cybersecurity controls.
  • Troubleshoot firmware, hardware, and system-level issues while performing root cause analysis.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, and engineering design discussions.
  • Create technical documentation, interface specifications, software design documents, and testing procedures.
  • Support manufacturing, product releases, and lifecycle maintenance activities.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote embedded software engineering best practices.
  • Evaluate emerging embedded technologies and recommend improvements supporting future product development.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required.
  • Master’s degree in Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience developing embedded software or firmware.
  • Strong programming experience with C, C++, and embedded programming methodologies.
  • Experience working with ARM Cortex, STM32, NXP, TI, Microchip, Renesas, or similar embedded platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) such as FreeRTOS, VxWorks, QNX, Zephyr, or Embedded Linux.
  • Experience with SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet, USB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and other embedded communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with hardware debugging tools including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG, and debuggers.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and software lifecycle management.
  • Knowledge of functional safety, secure firmware development, and embedded cybersecurity principles is highly desirable.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation Package

Base Salary: $288,000 – $362,000 USD annually

Compensation is determined based on embedded software expertise, firmware development experience, technical leadership, industry specialization, geographic location, and overall qualifications.
