This executive leadership role is responsible for shaping and executing the organization’s enterprise-wide human capital strategy while serving as a trusted advisor to the Chief Executive Officer and senior leadership team. The Vice President, Human Resources will oversee all aspects of Human Resources including organizational development, talent acquisition, workforce planning, total rewards, employee relations, compensation, benefits, HR operations, compliance, leadership development, succession planning, diversity, equity and inclusion, employee engagement, HR technology, and organizational effectiveness.

As a strategic business leader, this executive will collaborate closely with leaders across Operations, Finance, Legal, Commercial, Manufacturing, Research & Development, Information Technology, and Corporate Services to align people initiatives with business priorities. The successful candidate will be responsible for building scalable HR programs that attract exceptional talent, strengthen leadership capabilities, enhance organizational culture, and improve employee performance across multiple business units.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive enterprise Human Resources strategy aligned with corporate growth objectives and long-term business plans.
  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Leadership Team, and Board of Directors on all people-related initiatives.
  • Lead enterprise-wide Human Resources operations including Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Organizational Development, Learning & Development, Employee Relations, HR Business Partners, Payroll, HR Operations, and HR Technology.
  • Design workforce planning strategies that support organizational expansion, succession planning, and leadership continuity.
  • Oversee executive compensation programs, performance management systems, and company-wide talent review processes.
  • Develop leadership development initiatives that strengthen executive capability and prepare future organizational leaders.
  • Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and employee engagement initiatives that foster an inclusive workplace culture.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment regulations while maintaining effective corporate governance.
  • Lead organizational transformation initiatives, restructuring efforts, mergers and acquisitions integration, and change management programs.
  • Oversee compensation benchmarking, incentive programs, executive benefits, and total rewards strategies that attract and retain top talent.
  • Partner with Finance to support workforce budgeting, headcount planning, compensation forecasting, and labor cost optimization.
  • Implement HR technology modernization initiatives including HRIS optimization, workforce analytics, and digital employee experience platforms.
  • Develop employee engagement strategies that improve retention, productivity, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Establish key Human Resources performance metrics and workforce analytics that support executive decision-making.
  • Guide employee relations strategies while promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Legal to mitigate employment risk and maintain compliance with labor laws and corporate policies.
  • Represent Human Resources during executive leadership meetings, board presentations, investor discussions, and strategic planning sessions.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing HR leadership team while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and professional development.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Psychology, or a related discipline.
  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration (MBA), or related field strongly preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience, including executive-level responsibilities.
  • Minimum 8+ years leading enterprise Human Resources functions within large, complex organizations.
  • Experience supporting high-growth biotechnology, life sciences, healthcare, pharmaceutical, medical technology, or related industries is highly preferred.
  • Proven success developing enterprise talent strategies, organizational design, leadership development, and workforce transformation initiatives.
  • Extensive knowledge of compensation strategy, executive rewards, succession planning, performance management, organizational effectiveness, and employee relations.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. federal and multi-state employment regulations including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, NLRA, and related employment laws.
  • Experience implementing and optimizing enterprise HRIS platforms such as Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, UKG, or similar systems.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing enterprise HR budgets and workforce planning.
  • Exceptional executive communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, organizational restructuring, or large-scale transformation initiatives is highly desirable.
  • Professional certifications such as SHRM-SCP, SPHR, GPHR, or equivalent executive HR credentials are strongly preferred.

The Vice President, Human Resources serves as a strategic member of the Executive Leadership Team responsible for shaping enterprise-wide people strategies that support organizational growth, innovation, and operational excellence. This executive partners with business leaders to optimize workforce planning, leadership development, succession management, organizational design, and talent strategies that strengthen the company’s long-term competitive position.

Additionally, this role leads enterprise transformation initiatives, HR technology modernization, culture development, executive coaching, workforce analytics, and strategic change management while ensuring Human Resources remains a trusted business partner that enables organizational success across all functions.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation Package: $260,000 – $390,000 annually, based on executive leadership experience, industry expertise, organizational scope, geographic location within the United States, and overall qualifications.
